C/C++ Fundamentals
Ist Prize - Siveco Cup 2006
Learning C/C++ isn’t an easy task. The experience of many teaching years shows us that not all the students we work with can master programming and they don’t succeed in learning C/C++ programming language in an advanced manner.

These observations encouraged us to try another approach regarding the basics of the language. This new approach focuses on didactic games, “play and learn” being proved as a winning strategy for beginners. Of course, theoretical aspects, examples and exercises can’t be absent. Animations are used a lot, stimulating students’ imagination, illustrating in a pleasant way the tasks students have to solve.

The main character in our lectures is the likeable Bodo who assists students through this learning experience Lectures 1 to 5 are a step-by-step presentation of C/C++ basics, lecture 6 contains 4 didactic games and lecture 7 is a final evaluation.

Prehistoric Civilizations on the Romanian Territory
2nd Prize - Siveco Cup 2006
While the software products, encyclopedias and web pages regarding the universal history are no longer a novelty, the Romanian history is, for the moment, barely explored from this perspective.
For the Prehistoric Civilizations on the Romanian Territory" theme there are numerous arguments unquestionably related. As a first reason, we mention the socio-economical implications generated by this period that have obviously marked the evolution of the human communities in the carpatho-danubian area.
We considered the real possibilities of virtually exploring a historical subject, of designing and combining both traditional and modern resources in an attractive and interactive manner, facilitating the work of both the teacher (in the teaching-evaluation activity) and the student, by optimizing the independent learning.
We also took into consideration a precise audience, so we especially addressed to the 8th graders, who study this subject within the lesson "Prehistoric and Antic Civilizations on the Romanian Territory" and who are preparing to sustain the history exam at the Final Gymnasium Test.
